Is Juice as fattening as Soft Drink?

I've heard it many times before "Don't drink juice for weight loss, juice has just as much sugar as soft drink!". Sure, in many cases this is true, it has just as much sugar as soft drink but there are different effects on weight management between juice and softdrink. We take a quick look at the differences between the two to clear the air a bit.
What kind of juice are we talking about?
The type of juice you drink is very important. First and foremost look for the label somewhere to say "no added sugar" and be sure there are no artificial flavours & preservatives. We want pure fruit juice here, once sugar is added the benefits are watered down. So beware of 'Fruit Beverages', avoiding names with words like 'drink','punch', & 'cocktail'.
Vitamins
Juices are full of Vitmans. Vitamins are important for a fully functional metabolism. 100% juices are nutritious naturally, or when fortified with nutrients like vitamin C, calcium and vitamin D and packs more nutrient per calorie, making it 'nutrient Dense'. Orange juice is higher in protein, vitamin A, B-vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, iron and potassium than most juices. The benefits citrus fruit juice goes beyond just the nutrients having a cleansing effect on the body. A dash of Lemon Juice with some warm water can kick start your metabolism.
But what about softdrink? the majority of softdrinks available have no vitamins whatsoever.
Harmful ingredients
Lets start with soft drink. The acids in soft drink usually are phosphoric and malic or tartaric acids. These Acids can weaken the immune system, cause inflammation,
headaches, aggravate
diabetes and many other diseases while killing off cells, with some surving by becoming abnormal and unhealthy. Phosphoric
acid is used for removing rust from chrome and for cleaning
automobile
battery connectors - can't imagine how the stomach handles such an Acid.
A large percentage of soft drinks are pack with artificial sugar, and not just the diet ones! Aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar making it an easy solution to sweetening up a beverage. Artificial sugars are massively misleading when it comes to weight loss - no sugar, less calories - sounds fantastic! But Artificial sugars have been shown to increase appetite, and can slow the metabolism. Not the best weight loss solution!
Juice? All natural juice has no harmful substances.
In Conclusion
Sure, juice may have a similar amount of sugar as soft drink, but is that really the issue? If you can a drink full of nutrition or one full of harmful substances that can slow your metabolism and have possible side effects which are still undiscovered but suspected (things like cancer), I think the choice is obvious. I have read that juice was bad because of the sugar and it was better for calorie counting to have a diet soda. That never made sense to me. Nice hub, thanks for sharing this information.
